World Book Day 2018…

Well, another year, another World Book Day… As a teacher, I always look forward to it, a chance for children to share the books they enjoy and to do activities linked to different books. It is also a time to share my favourite authors with them being able to read different stories!

Sadly though this year, snow stopped play… So I have made the most of my Snow days to catch up on work and have some fun with icing biscuits… Whilst linking back to World Book Day!

So, between me and various friends we chose our favourite books…

1) First up, Dear Zoo. I love this book especially when I was a child and I love to share it with children I teach today. The story of all the different animals being sent and having to lift the different flaps before finally finding the right animal!

2) Secondly, is a book which I also grew up reading, I remember Mum reading me the whole series and I love the story behind Beatrix Potter shown through the film, Miss Potter. My favourite story of the series has always been The Tale of Peter Rabbit because of his naughty nature and always getting himself in trouble! I can’t wait to go and see the film when it gets released soon!

3) The third book I have chosen and the final children’s book is the first Harry Potter book, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. I will never forget the scenes when each book was released, the queues at the bookshops, the midnight store openings. It is a book which has inspired many many children to read, and have a love for reading, which in my day job is what I try to do everyday!

4) Number 4 is The Great Gatsby, this one was chosen by a friend (Sarah) it is a book which I have enjoyed reading and love the twists and turns which are in it. The picture you can create of the 1920’s is fantastic and makes me want to go back there!

5) Last but definitely not least is a slight break in the rules because it is a magazine! But the Horse and Hound is something which I have read since I was little. It is the magazine that any rider wants to get their photo in and in a slightly different route whilst I have developed my photography I have managed to get two photos and an article printed in the H & H! So this entry came from my sister Steph, she reads it virtually every week, so it had to be my final front cover!

So there you have it! My favourite five books iced as biscuits! These have turned into a labour of love with these 5 biscuits taking me all day, but it wiled away another snow day!

Until next time, keep warm and enjoy the snow.
